Good-bye, little Frank

I...........can't believe I am here with more bad news.
Last night, we lost our beautiful kitty.
He had been acting real tired, his appetite decreased,
and yesterday he had trouble walking.
We took him in, doc said he has leukemia and really bad anemia.
He tried to convince me that he was ready to go.
I didn't believe it.
I couldn't.
We couldn't lose another pet, could we?
I took Frank home, let him rest, gave him steroids.
Later that night, he couldn't even lift his head.
I knew it was time to let him go.
Matt took him back in, I just couldn't do it,
and I didn't want the boys to see another pet slip away before their eyes.

I don't know how to explain my love for my kitty.
He hid from everyone else in the world,
but he loved. us.
He slept between me and Jacky every night,
and every morning Jack would wrap his arm around his kitty and kiss him good morning.
I am surrounded by dog people,
and I could never explain how awesome my cat was.

I loved that he stole our food while we ate dinner,
that he made us turn on the sink for a fresh drink of water,
that he rubbed his head against our hands when he wanted a head rub,
that we all knew his favorite spot under the couch,
that he so confidently walked around the dogs like he owned the house (which he did),
that I caught him doing the frankenstein walk down the hallway,
that he chased Ty's dog down the hall,
that he started purring even before you touched him, because he knew it would be good,
that I always found him asleep on the couch when I came home from work,
that he never wanted to go more than 3 feet outside,
that he ALWAYS took care of the boys when they were sick,
and that he was so beautiful and had eyes like the ocean.

I miss you terribly, and it hasn't even been one day.
(I am glad that you have big Brune to keep you company up there. Take care of each other my loves)

Thank God it's Christmas

"Oh my love, we've had our share of tears
Oh my friend, we've had our hopes and fears
Oh my friends, it's been a long hard year
But now it's Christmas
Yes it's Christmas
Thank God it's Christmas"

I love this song,
and it really seems to fit this year.
After everything that has happened,
look at what we still have,
look at the family and friends that we get to share Christmas with,
look at all the love around us.
I love Christmas time.

(thanks for the reminder, Freddie Mercury!)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Good-Bye, Sweet Brune

At 2:00am, on November 20, 2011
when he was only 4 1/2 years old,
we had to say good-bye.
Our poor babe's stomach twisted (the dreaded bloat)
and, the docs were unable to save him.
To say we were crushed, is an understatement.

Enough about the sad part of Bruno's life,
let's talk about how amazing he was.

First of all, this dog could eat EVERYTHING
He was a constantly drooling over every morsel of food around him.
He had the stinkiest dog farts in the world,
He was a true Scooby Doo dog, ha ha ha!

Speaking of drool,
oh. the. DROOL.
This boy's jowls were so deliciously hilarious
You could never walk past Bruney without a big slobber on your belly,
I never knew how much I would miss gooey love bubbles on my shirt.

And those ears,
those long, flowing, floppy ears.
They always sailed behind you when you ran,
and they were so soft.
Matty loved his ears.

He was Sesi's best friend and he always tried to keep up with her.
His giant, clumsy legs would gallop behind her
They loved each other
She was always licking him, and taking care of him
Just like a momma should.

He was Max's dog from the very beginning,
he always took care of Max and made sure he could see him at all times.
(Can you believe how small they both are in the picture above?)

When Jacky was born, we were a little nervous having such a giant around our tiny boy.
Bruno became even more gentle than he already was.
Every time Jack would crawl on top of him,
he would concentrate so hard on staying still.
It was so sweet!
He always had a kiss ready for his boys.

The BEST memory I have of me and my boy was this summer.
I brought Bruno to the Annual Family Picnic,
and he followed me around like a shadow.
He even stood at the door while I was in the bathroom.
My dad tried to call him, but he wouldn't leave until I came out.
He went down the slide with all the kids with a HUGE smile on his face.
We had such a great day.
I couldn't believe that he loved me so much.
He was so loyal.

He was Matty's baby.
One of Matt's long-life dreams was to own a great dane named Bruno.
When we chose him, (or when he chose us),
Bruno cuddled right into Matt and we knew.
Since then, Bruno lived and breathed for Matt.
He was constantly waiting for Matt to talk to him or touch him.
Matty was so proud of his Bruno.

To say Bruno was loyal just isn't enough.
He was my son. I was his momma.
Our time together, though way too short,
was something that I will never, ever forget.

I will never have another dog like you, buddy.
I will never forget you.
I miss you.
I wish we could've saved you.
I love you.

I know you are playing with our Bandit,
Grama's Peggy Sue,
Sammi's Tony bear,
Lindsey's Cinder,
Devon's Kanga,
and all the other puppies that we miss.

Take care of all of our family up there with you.
Slobber on them a lot.

Watch over our boys, giant angel.
